ATLANTA -- Along with basking in the glory of a World Series title, Brian Snitker can now enjoy the satisfaction of knowing he could serve as the Braves' manager each of the next three seasons.

The Braves announced on Wednesday morning that Snitker's contract was extended through the 2024 season. The 66-year-old skipper has held this role since replacing Fredi Gonzalez six weeks into the 2016 season.

Snitker has guided the Braves to four consecutive National League East titles and a World Series championship, which was captured earlier this month. He was named NL Manager of the Year in 2018.

This extension adds to the splendor of a tenure that dates back to when Snitker began his professional playing career with the Braves in 1977. Hank Aaron served as the club's farm director at the time. When Aaron released Snitker in 1980, he immediately gave him a job as a roving instructor.

Snitker gained his first managerial role in 1982. He spent the next three-plus decades serving as a coach or manager at the Major and Minor League levels, but he didn't get his first chance to manage at the big league level until replacing Gonzalez in 2016.
