BOSTON -- The gustiest night at Fenway Park in recent memory created an injury in the broadcast booth. NESN color commentator Jerry Remy was hit in the head by a monitor early in Saturday's 11-9 Red Sox loss to the Twins and was replaced by Steve Lyons in the second inning.
As Sandy Leon stepped to the plate to start the bottom of the second, NESN play-by-play man Dave O'Brien updated the situation for his viewers.
"During that severe wind gust, and I mean, it really kicked up like you wouldn't believe, one of our monitors was displaced and slammed into Jerry and caught him in the head," O'Brien said. "He left the booth to be looked at by a team doctor. They gave Jerry a long look, a complete examination. Jerry wanted to return to the air. He's OK, no cut or anything like that. We're asking Jerry to take the rest of the night off."
Remy is expected to return to the booth for Sunday's 1:35 p.m. ET series finale against the Twins.
