The Pirates and Yankees have reached agreement on a trade that would send right-handed reliever Camilo Doval and cash considerations to Pittsburgh in exchange for two prospects, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand Saturday. The teams have not confirmed the trade.

The Minor Leaguers heading back to New York in the trade are catcher Omar Alfonzo (Pittsburgh's No. 17 prospect according to MLB Pipeline) and outfielder Luis Cruz.

A 2023 National League All-Star with the Giants, Doval’s effectiveness is no longer quite at that peak, with the Yankees recently having relegated the 29-year-old to mop-up relief duty.
He was acquired from San Francisco at the Trade Deadline last season but pitched to a 4.82 ERA across 22 appearances with New York. So far this year, he has a 4.54 ERA in 39 2/3 innings, with velocity that still crackles in the triple digits.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said recently that he was hoping Doval would return to a significant role, noting, “We cast people off all the time during a long Major League season, and the reality is, things change. They can change in a hurry sometimes.”
Alfonzo, 22, is a Minneapolis native who was hitting .239/.338/.420 in 60 games at Double-A Altoona this year, making 34 starts behind the plate and 12 at first base. He owns a career .746 OPS in 420 Minor League games.
Cruz, 18, has played 56 games in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League over the past two seasons, posting a .758 OPS, including an .856 OPS in 17 games this year.
