The Cardinals couldn’t ask for much more from a key signing from their international pool a year ago.
Sebastian Dos Santos has rolled with the challenges of adjusting to pro ball as well as some expedited promotions. Over just 92 games in affiliated ball, the club's No. 12 prospect has flashed the tools that put him on the organization’s radar in the first place.
At 18 years old, Dos Santos recently vaulted onto and up the Cardinals' Top 30 Prospects list. In the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League he slashed .313/.452/.570 last year. His 1.022 OPS jumped off the page and he displayed his slugging potential with 21 extra-base hits as well as some wheels with 13 stolen bases.
That debut brought intrigue for his 2026 campaign, his first full season in the system. Dos Santos constantly found his way on base (.429 OBP) in a productive start to the season in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League, where he tallied a 1.015 OPS and stole 13 bases in just 27 games. That’s all the Cardinals needed to see to bump him up to Single-A Palm Beach.

Dos Santos has gone through some expected growing pains at the new level, hitting .194 through his first 27 games, the same amount of time he had spent in the FCL. But he's remaining true to his game with a .349 on-base percentage and 10 more stolen bases, again showing off a penchant for the long ball with homers in back-to-back games July 17 and 18.
The Venezuela native has done a terrific job establishing his baseline as an emerging prospect. Dos Santos has an innate ability to get on base, impact the baseball when he adjusts to the level and throw some fear into opposing pitchers on the basepaths. Those attributes sparked his rise up the rankings and have set the tone of his development for a young player with his whole career ahead of him.
