Not a drill: Cards show game prep on Snapchat

March 12th, 2016

The Cardinals offered a peek behind the curtain at Spring Training on Friday during their 4-3 win over the Braves, as Major League Baseball participated in its inaugural Snapchat Day.
Fans were treated to a behind-the scenes look at life in the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues as players were permitted to bring smartphones into the dugouts and bullpens during Friday's spring games. They shared photos and videos throughout the day via the social media app -- with an occasional assist from SnapBat selfie sticks.
All 30 big league clubs published Snapchat stories, and St. Louis' can be found at the Snapchat handle "Cardinals."
The Cardinals' Snapchat story begins with some pregame workouts prior to the club's matchup with the Braves, including manager Mike Matheny tossing batting practice, outfielder Matt Holliday taking some swings and catcher Yadier Molina working on some defensive drills.
Friday's starter Carlos Martinez is also featured warming up for his Grapefruit League debut. The brief video clips provide a unique perspective on the game from inside the St. Louis dugout in Jupiter, Fla.
