Correa scratched from lineup with ankle injury

HOUSTON -- Astros shortstop was scratched from the lineup about an hour prior to Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers at Daikin Park with a left ankle injury. There was no immediate word on Correa’s injury, but a source told MLB.com that Correa suffered the injury during batting practice Tuesday.

This is the second day in a row the Astros have lost a starting position player during batting practice. Catcher Yainer Diaz suffered an oblique strain swinging the bat during batting practice Monday and was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Correa, who went 0-for-4 in Monday’s game against the Dodgers, has been playing shortstop while Jeremy Peña has been on the injured list with a hamstring strain. Correa was moved to the leadoff spot for the Astros on April 19 and entered Tuesday slashing .279/.369/.418 with three homers and 16 RBIs.

The Astros reacquired Correa from the Twins at the Trade Deadline last year and moved him to third base because they had Peña at shortstop. This year, he’s started 12 games at third base and 20 at shortstop.
