ARLINGTON -- Shortstop Carlos Correa wore an expression of relief as he walked into the visitors' clubhouse around 4:15 p.m. CT on Thursday, a few hours before the Astros' opener with the Rangers at Globe Life Park.
Correa had just arrived from Houston, having undergone an MRI and full examination by team doctors to check on the soreness in his right side that forced him from the game in the seventh inning against the Mariners on Wednesday.
"I got some really good news -- nothing major," Correa said. "We'll take it day by day and see how it works the next time I swing. I can't wait to be back out there; I want to play every day."

Correa was not in the lineup Thursday, and manager AJ Hinch said they'll determine a timetable for the shortstop's return to the field at a later time. Correa will first have to go through standard drills to make sure they have the ailment under control.
"I'm happy with what I'm hearing so far, but until he swings a bat, [we won't] know more," Hinch said. "He's not going to play tonight and I'm not sure of anything moving forward. I'll be conservative with him based on the recommendations. We're happy that the first diagnosis was that there's nothing serious, and we'll hopefully get him back soon."
In other injury news, catcher Brian McCann will be activated from the 10-day disabled list on Friday. McCann has been sidelined since May 29 with right knee soreness.
