The 33-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment to open a 40-man roster spot on Tuesday, when the club promoted relievers and from Tacoma.

He has a career record of 17-17 with a 4.29 ERA in nine Major League seasons with the Tigers, Twins, Dodgers and Mariners.
Fien pitched four games with Tacoma earlier in the season, posting a 2.08 ERA with four hits and one run in 4 1/3 innings.
