LOS ANGELES -- D-backs manager Chip Hale led a contingent of D-backs players, which included Daniel Hudson and Jake Lamb, up to the Dodger Stadium press box prior to Wednesday's batting practice to visit broadcasting legend Vin Scully, who is retiring following the season after 67 years in the booth.
"It was great," Hale said. "The amazing thing about going up to meet him, and I told him this, there aren't many baseball memories that I have that his voice is not associated with. It's amazing. It's sad to know he won't be doing it anymore, but it's also an honor just to even be in his presence."

Hudson also has Scully's voice as the soundtrack to a lot of baseball moments he has watched over the years.
"It's hard to put into words," Hudson said. "This guy has been broadcasting however many games -- World Series, no-hitters, all that stuff for 60-plus years and just to be able to go upstairs and meet him real quick, just to have him call my name on the air is pretty humbling. It's an honor."

Lamb said he hears from family members after they listen to Dodgers-D-backs games.
"My dad and grandpa, who listened to him growing up, they tell me that it's unreal when they hear him say my name," Lamb said. "He's obviously a legend and it was cool just hearing stories. He told us a few stories, really funny dude, down to earth. It was fun listening to him."
