DENVER -- was not in the starting lineup for the Brewers in their series finale vs. the Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday afternoon, getting a day off as the club continues to manage the veteran left fielder/designated hitter’s workload.

Yelich, who has a .370/.469/.444 slash line in six games this month, missed a month with an injured list stint due to a left groin strain earlier this season. He has also dealt with intermittent back issues, as he has throughout his career, missing a few games due to back tightness.

The 2018 National League MVP and three-time All-Star underwent season-ending back surgery in 2024, and doctors told him to expect minor flare-ups from time to time.

Overall, Yelich -- who hasn’t been able to replicate the MVP-caliber numbers he put up from 2018-19, a span over which he posted a 1.046 OPS with 80 home runs -- hit 29 homers last season, his most since ’19. So far in ’26, he is batting .282/.356/.443 with four home runs in 34 games.
