CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Guardians today announced the signing of 3B JOSÉ RAMÍREZ to a new seven-year contract thru 2032 that represents a contract extension of four additional seasons.

Since making his debut on September 1, 2013, Ramírez has helped guide Cleveland to six AL Central Division crowns, a World Series berth (2016) and an ALCS appearance (2024) while earning a club-record six Silver Slugger awards (2017, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025) and seven All-Star selections, tied for second-most in club history behind Bob Feller (8).

In 2025, he became the only active player and first primary third basemen in MLB history with 275 HR and 275 steals and following his third 30-30-30 season in 2025, he is now only the third player in MLB history to have three different 30 2B-30 HR-30 SB campaigns, joining Barry Bonds (3x) and Alfonso Soriano (4x). Additionally, the two-time First-Team All-MLB selection leads the Majors in extra base hits (628) since 2017, 39 more than any other player over the span. The Baní, DR native has finished first or second on the club in bWAR in each of the last six seasons since 2020 and in eight of the last nine since 2017. His career bWAR of 57.6 already ranks 19th in MLB history, and 10 of the 18 players ahead of him have been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame (%).

José became the club’s all-time leader in extra base hits (726) on Sept. 25, breaking Earl Averill’s 87-year club record of 725. He is on verge of becoming the club’s all-time leader in career games (1609, 11 shy), at bats (5970, 66 shy) and total bases (3007, needs 194) and is likely to be the franchise leader in numerous offensive categories by the contract’s conclusion. Additionally, by 2032 his twenty seasons with the club would equal Mel Harder’s (1928-1947) franchise record and would be the most ever by a club position player, shattering Terry Turner’s mark of 15 from 1904-18.

Ramírez, 33, is coming off another top four AL MVP finish in 2025, batting .283 (168-for-593) with 34 doubles, 3 triples, 30 home runs, 85 RBI, 103 runs scored and a career-high 44 stolen bases. The Baní, DR native led AL third basemen in fWAR (6.3), steals, OPS (.863), runs, walks (53) and intentional walks (22) while recording his third career 30-homer, 30-steal season.

Ramírez has been a leader off the field, partnering with the City of Cleveland and Cleveland Guardians Charities in 2023 to fund a new Fields for the Future project at Clark Field. As a regular youth baseball and softball ambassador, he also champions programs including Fun at Bat, which introduces in-school K–5 students to the game of baseball, and Guardians RBI, which focuses investing in NE Ohio communities where access to high-level baseball and softball opportunities are often limited. In recognition of his impact, the City of Cleveland renamed the street adjacent to Clark Field José Ramírez Way in September.
