BALTIMORE -- The injury bug just won't go away in Baltimore. Now, it has hit .

On Sunday, Mayo was scratched from the Orioles' lineup for Game 1 of their doubleheader vs. the Tigers at Camden Yards, as the 24-year-old infielder was experiencing low back discomfort. Weston Wilson started at third base instead and batted sixth.

Nineteen O's players have spent time on the injured list this season. The number currently on the IL dropped to 11 on Sunday, as left-handed reliever Grant Wolfram was reinstated prior to Sunday's twin bill.

Baltimore will hope that count doesn't go back up to 12 with Mayo, who has never gone on the injured list during his three-year MLB career. It is not yet known when he began to experience back discomfort, and it isn't clear how severe the ailment may be.

Mayo is hitting .186 with four doubles, five home runs, 18 RBIs and a .592 OPS in 43 games this season. However, he's been faring better of late, going 8-for-28 (.286) with a double, two homers, six RBIs and a .930 OPS over his past nine contests entering Sunday.

Sunday marked the sixth time the Orioles have scratched a player from their original lineup due to injury this season, and all six have been different players.
