The Angels placed reliever Cody Allen on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar spine strain and reinstated left-hander Tyler Skaggs, who started Friday night, from the injured list.

"Whenever your back tightens up, it's going to affect whatever you do," Angels manager Brad Ausmus said.

The club also optioned right-hander Matt Ramsey to Triple-A Salt Lake and recalled pitcher Luke Bard from Triple-A.

Allen, who was removed from the closer's role, pitched in Thursday night's 11-5 win over the Yankees, throwing two-thirds of an inning and allowing one run on one hit and three walks while fanning two.
