Mariners stretch winning streak to 7 on Young's walk-off single

SEATTLE -- If it wasn’t evident enough already, the Mariners appear to have firmly found their mojo in this 2026 season.

Seattle extended its season-high win streak to seven games with a 3-2, walk-off victory over the Mets on Monday night, climbing to a season-high three games above .500 (32-29).

chipped an opposite-field RBI single with one out in the 10th inning, immediately after automatic runner stole third base on strike three to Patrick Wisdom the at-bat prior.

The heroics from Young and Arozarena followed a pair of solo homers from Colt Emerson and Josh Naylor, the latter of which tied the game in the seventh. Naylor was then forced to exit for reasons that weren’t immediately disclosed.

The prevailing question during this stretch that’s now extended beyond one week is whether the Mariners will now ever look back in each category.

Sure, the sample is small in the grander scheme of how inconsistent they played through the season’s first two months. But given the roster’s potential all along, and that the division has been the sport’s weakest, we might look at this stretch as a true turning point.

Three of Seattle’s seven wins during this winning streak, all since Friday, have been by one run and in extra innings -- two criteria that mostly plagued the club up until this homestand. The Mariners were 6-12 in one-run games and 1-3 in extras before this stretch. Good teams typically find ways to win these types of games, which the Mariners are obviously doing now more than ever.
