DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma via trade with the Chicago White Sox in exchange for outfielder Brenton Doyle.
Adams, 26, has gone 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA (49.0 IP, 21 ER) and 48 strikeouts in 14 games (12 starts) across three levels for Chicago-AL this season … has been with Triple-A Charlotte for his last nine outings (seven starts) since June 12, going 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA (36.0 IP, 17 ER), one save and 36 strikeouts for the Knights … missed the 2025 season while recovering from Tommy John Surgery … the Davenport, Iowa, native has gone 16-14 with a 3.22 ERA (282.0 IP, 101 ER), two saves, 77 walks and 287 strikeouts over 63 career Minor League games (47 starts) since 2022 … over his Minor League career has held opposing hitters to a .246 average while allowing 0.7 home runs per nine innings … was originally drafted by Chicago-AL out of Jacksonville University in the 13th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft … ranked by MLB Pipeline as the White Sox’ No. 8 overall prospect.
Vielma, 16, is in his first year of professional baseball and was slashing .337/.507/.474 with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 21 RBI in 34 games for the Dominican Summer League White Sox … has started 19 games at third base, nine games at second base, two at first base and four as the designated hitter … the Bobures, Venezuela, native has reached base safely in 33 of his 34 games played … signed with Chicago-AL as an international free agent on Jan. 15, 2026.
Doyle, 28, has slashed .214/.287/.282 with one home run and five RBI in 45 games with the Rockies in 2026 … made his Major League debut with Colorado in 2023 after being selected in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Shepherd University (Shepherdstown, W. Va.) … in parts of four seasons with the Rockies, slashed .233/.284/.385 with 209 runs scored, 68 doubles, 11 triples, 49 home runs, 182 RBI and 79 stolen bases … back-to-back National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner in center field during the 2023-24 seasons.
