New York has signed 5 undrafted college right-handers

June 16th, 2020

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Yankees have agreed to terms with Connor Pellerin, a right-handed pitcher from Tulane University who was signed as an undrafted free agent. The club announced the signing on Tuesday.

Pellerin, who turns 21 in July, pitched to a 2.25 ERA in six relief appearances during his shortened junior season with the Green Wave.

A 6-foot-4, 210-pound hurler from Baton Rouge, La., Pellerin compiled a 4-4 record with a 5.67 ERA over 55 collegiate appearances (two starts), allowing 54 hits and 75 walks with 94 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings.

Since Sunday, when teams could begin negotiating with players not selected in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Yankees have announced agreements with five players -- all right-handed college starters.

In addition to Pellerin, the Yankees have signed right-handers Carson Coleman (University of Kentucky), Ocean Gabonia (Everett Community College), Trevor Holloway (University of Central Florida) and Jarod Lessar (Brigham Young University) as undrafted free agents. Those signing bonuses are capped at a maximum of $20,000.
