Corey Seager was placed on the 10-day injured list with lower back inflammation, the Rangers announced on Monday. INF/OF Michael Helman was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
Seager had a scheduled off-day on Friday coming off a career-worst 0-for-27 skid. He was originally meant to play on Saturday, but woke up with “minor back spasms" that kept him out of the lineup for that game and Sunday's finale against the Astros.
Seager missed 60 games last season and has not played more than 123 games in any of the past three seasons with Texas.
Before Friday’s day off, Seager was mired in a seven-game hitless stretch. He is now slashing .179/.286/.353 on the season.
