KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- After spending a few days around Astros camp here, Hall of Famer Craig Biggio said the vibe reminded him of that surrounding the early '90s teams in Houston.
At that time, Biggio, Jeff Bagwell and Derek Bell were developing as the Killer B's, with Sean Berry and Lance Berkman to come along in the next few years.

"The excitement level from the anticipation of what you had last year to where we're at now, yeah it is exciting," Biggio said. "It reminds me a lot of the early '90s, where our team is kind of built now for success. Because you look at your core players that you have, they're good kids and good players, and they're young. They should be here for a while."
Biggio, who is entering his eighth season as a special assistant to the general manager, arrived on Sunday and will stay until Thursday as a guest instructor.

Biggio called Spring Training the "beauty of baseball" because it's a chance before the pressures of the season begin to work with players and offer suggestions to those seeking help. That spans from watching young stars such as Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa take batting practice, as he did Tuesday, to spending the day introducing himself and getting to know players in Minor League camp.
"I love this part of the game," Biggio said. "Spring Training is always a fun time of year."
Having watched the Astros rebuild, Biggio said it was nice to see so much talent and feel a high level of enthusiasm around camp again.
"It's exciting to be back," Biggio said. "It's exciting to walk around town in Houston in the offseason and have people excited about your team again."
