CHICAGO -- The Cubs claimed infielder Jack Reinheimer off waivers from the Mets and activated outfielder Mark Zagunis and pitchers Yu Darvish, Justin Hancock and Brandon Morrow off the 60-day disabled list on Friday.
In addition, outfielder Terrance Gore and infielder Mike Freeman were both outrighted off the 40-man roster. With the moves, the Cubs' 40-man roster now stands at 39.

Reinheimer, 26, spent the last two seasons with the D-backs in 2017 and the Mets in '18, seeing action in 23 games and batting .143. A right-handed batter, he spent most of this past season at Triple-A, batting .257 with 12 doubles, two triples, five homers and 26 RBIs in 66 games for the D-backs and Mets' affiliates. He made his Major League debut with Arizona on Aug. 1, 2017, at Wrigley Field.
Reinheimer is versatile. While in the Minors, he's played 505 games at shortstop, 73 games at second base, 57 games at third and four games in left field.
Gore was 6-for-6 in stolen-base attempts in 14 games with the Cubs, while Freeman was called up Sept. 22 as insurance and had one plate appearance.

As expected, the Cubs did not make a qualifying offer to any of their free agents. That list includes infielder Daniel Murphy, catcher Bobby Wilson and pitchers Jesse Chavez, Jorge De La Rosa, Jaime Garcia and Justin Wilson.
