CLEVELAND -- Saturday’s game between the Guardians and Cubs at Progressive Field was postponed due to a forecast of inclement weather in northeast Ohio. The clubs are now set to play a traditional doubleheader on Sunday.
First pitch for the first game of Sunday’s twin bill is set for a 1:10 p.m. ET. Gates will open at noon ET, and only those who had tickets to Sunday’s game will be able to attend. Those who want to attend both games can do so, and they will have the same seat for both games.
According to the Guardians, ticketholders to Saturday’s contest may use the full value of their tickets in their My Tickets account when exchanging them for one of 51 designated games, including Sunday’s doubleheader.
Additional fees may apply, and tickets must be exchanged by noon ET on May 5. Exchanges may not be made through the Ballpark app.
Saturday’s game was scheduled to air on FOX as a national broadcast. Due to the postponement, both games on Sunday will be carried by local providers Guardians TV and Marquee Sports Network.
The Guardians are staying in order with their rotation plans. Slade Cecconi (who was Cleveland’s probable starter Saturday) will take the mound for the first game Sunday. Parker Messick (who was Sunday’s original probable starter) will start the second game.
The Cubs switched their rotation order from Saturday. Edward Cabrera (who was originally set to take the mound on Sunday) will start the first game. Shota Imanaga (who was set to start Saturday) will start the second game.
Both teams will be permitted to carry a 27th player on its active roster Sunday. It must be a player on the 40-man roster.
