LHP Justin Steele
Injury: Left elbow
Expected return: 2026
Status: Underwent season-ending surgery (left ulnar collateral ligament revision repair) on April 18. Steele resumed a throwing program in October and got back on a mound for the first time since surgery on Jan. 16 in Chicago. (updated Jan. 17)
RHP Cade Horton
Injury: Right rib fracture
Expected return: 2026
Status: Horton took a week off after the Cubs' playoff exit before resuming a throwing program. He has had a normal offseason and is set up for a routine Spring Training. (updated Jan. 17)
OF Kevin Alcántara
Injury: Sports hernia
Expected return: 2026
Status: The Cubs announced that Alcántara underwent “successful surgery” to repair a sports hernia on Oct. 16. (updated Oct. 16)

Injury: Left ankle sprain
Expected return: 2026
