CHICAGO -- Given the steady play of top prospect , the Cubs could be discussing moving him up to Triple-A Iowa in the second half. In the meantime, the young outfielder has some different travel plans on his upcoming itinerary.

Both Crow-Armstrong and infield prospect  have been selected to take part in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on July 8 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. For Crow-Armstrong, who is No. 9 on Pipeline’s Top 100 list, it will be his second Futures Game in a row.

“PCA right now is on a really good trajectory,” Cubs general manager Carter Hawkins said. “His walk rates have gone up. His plate discipline has been really good. His defense has continued to be at the high clip that he already was at. From that standpoint, we're just really excited about what he's doing right now in Double-A.”

Through 53 games for Double-A Tennessee, the 21-year-old Crow-Armstrong -- acquired from the Mets in the 2021 Deadline deal for Javier Báez -- had hit .280/.363/.491 with a 130 wRC+. He had nine homers, 10 doubles, three triples, 45 RBIs, 44 runs and 19 stolen bases.

So, could a trip to Triple-A Iowa be coming soon?

“I think those conversations will start probably towards the second half here,” Hawkins said. “Right now, we're just excited about the progress he's making.”

The 23-year-old Murray -- a native of the Bahamas -- was picked by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He recently entered Pipeline’s Top 30 list for the Cubs at No. 30 and suited up for Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic this past spring.

The switch-hitting corner infielder was hitting .258/.376/.446 with seven homers, 17 doubles, three triples, 36 RBIs, 42 walks and 36 runs through 65 games for Double-A Tennessee. Murray had a 15.1% walk rate and a 126 wRC+ for the Smokies.

“He does something that most hitters don’t,” Cubs vice president of player development Jared Banner said. “He doesn’t swing a lot. Most hitters swing too much. BJ doesn’t. He’s not one of those guys, and it really works well for his game. He’s also really improved defensively as well. We’re excited about him.”
