Cubs sign veteran lefty Garcia to Minors deal

PHILADELPHIA -- MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports the Cubs have signed lefty to a Minor League deal. The Cubs have not confirmed the deal.
Garcia was designated for assignment on Saturday and was released by the Blue Jays on Wednesday. In 25 games (13 starts) with Toronto, he was 3-6 with a 5.93 ERA.
Aug. 31 waiver trade 'deadline' explained
Garcia, 32, has pitched for the Cardinals, Braves, Twins, Yankees and Blue Jays, compiling a 70-61 record and a 3.84 ERA over 10 seasons. This year, he held left-handed hitters to a .188 average.
The Cubs have been stockpiling relievers, adding and before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline and in August.
