D-backs reportedly open to trading Hill

January 24th, 2016

The D-backs are reportedly shopping infielder Aaron Hill, but finding a trade partner could be a "tall task," according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.
Hill, who will turn 34 in March, can play both second and third base. He hit .230/.295/.345 in 116 games last season. But the current free-agent market is already full of infield talent, including Ian Desmond, David Freese and Howie Kendrick.

If the D-backs end up trading Hill, it could be a precursor for a free-agent signing -- possibly Kendrick. Or it could simply be a move that allows Chris Owings to get more playing time at second base.
Hill has played for the D-backs since August 2011, hitting .273/.331/.439 with 55 homers. He had previously played parts of seven seasons for the Blue Jays.
