D-backs acquire Josh VanMeter and Stuart Fairchild from Reds for Archie Bradley and cash considerations

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired INF/OF Josh VanMeter (@VanMeter15) and OF Stuart Fairchild (@stustuuu) from the Reds for RHP Archie Bradley and cash considerations.

VanMeter, 25, has played parts of the last 2 seasons with the Reds. In 109 games, he hit .214 (56-for-262) with 14 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs and 24 RBI. 

In 2019 at Triple-A Louisville, he appeared in 49 games and hit .348 (63-for-181)/.429 OBP/.669 SLG with 14 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs and 43 RBI. In 2 seasons with Louisville (2018-19), he appeared in 147 games and hit .287 (147-for-513)/.353 OBP/.536 SLG with 39 doubles, 7 triples, 25 home runs and 88 RBI. 

He was acquired by the Reds on Dec. 9, 2016, from the Padres, to complete a trade on Dec. 8, 2016. 

He was the Padres’ fifth-round pick in the 2013 draft out of Norwell (Ind.) High School. 

Fairchild, 24, is the Reds’ No. 10 prospect by Baseball America and No. 11 prospect on MLBPipeline.com.  

He spent the 2019 season at Single-A Advanced Daytona and Double-A Chattanooga. In 109 games combined, he hit .264 (106-for-401)/.352 OBP/.441 SLG with 29 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs and 54 RBI. 

He was a 2018 Midwest League midseason All-Star at Single-A Dayton. 

In 3 seasons in the Reds’ system (2017-19), he appeared in 295 games and hit .272 (288-for-1,060)/.356 OBP/.421 SLG with 60 doubles, 13 triples, 24 home runs and 134 RBI. 

He was the Reds’ second-round pick in the 2017 draft, out of Wake Forest University. 

Bradley, 28, spent 6 seasons with the D-backs (2015-20). In 249 games (35 starts), he went 22-25 with 28 saves, a 3.96 ERA (178 ER in 404.1 IP), .251 opponent average and 419 strikeouts. He was the D-backs’ first-round pick (No. 7 overall) in the 2011 draft.
