SURPRISE, Ariz. -- A pair of D-backs prospects made a clean sweep of the Arizona Fall League weekly honors for the week of Oct. 31, as Dawel Lugo was named the AFL's top hitter, and left-handed reliever Jared Miller took the award for being the circuit's best pitcher.
Lugo, the D-backs' No. 10 prospect, chalked up two doubles and a homer run among seven hits in 15 at-bats (.467) while driving in four runs for the Salt River Rafters to win the award.
"I was really happy that I was selected Player of the Week," Lugo said. "Obviously I performed, and I am excited about the performance, and I continue to work hard."
Miller was named Pitcher of the Week after continuing his dominant performance on the mound through the first four weeks of games. The 6-foot-7 southpaw struck out five in two perfect innings against Scottsdale on Wednesday to maintain his 0.00 ERA and to extend his streak of consecutive batters retired to 20.
"It's a cool honor, obviously, to be recognized out here in this league with all these great talents out here," Miller said. "It's a great honor to cap the year off on a high note."

Originally signed for $1.3 million by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011, and acquired by the D-backs from Toronto last August for Cliff Pennington, Lugo has picked up right where he left off during the regular season. The 21-year-old Dominican infielder hit a combined .311/.339/.492 with 17 home runs and 62 RBIs in 127 games between the Class A Advanced Visalia Rawhide and the Double-A Mobile Baybears, and he's hitting .303/.294/.409 with a home run and 11 RBIs through 15 Fall League games.
"The two-run homer that gave the team the lead was the most exciting one," Lugo said of his third-inning home run that broke a tie between the Rafters and the Surprise Saguaros on Friday.
Lugo's 17 long balls during the regular season came across 488 at-bats and matched the combined total of his first four Minor League seasons, which spanned 1,368 at-bats.
Miller, the D-backs' 11th-round pick out of Vanderbilt in 2014, has struck out a 24 of 44 batters he has faced in the AFL, surrendering only four hits and walking one. He leads the league in ERA and WHIP (0.38) and is tied with Glendale's Austin Gomber (Cardinals) for the most strikeouts in the league. But it's taken him just 13 innings to accrue two dozen K's while Gomber has worked 22 2/3 innings.
"I feel confident," Miller said. "I feel like I've done a good job using this opportunity and treating it like another game of the season. Obviously I want to finish these last 10 or 12 days strong."
The Vanderbilt product spent his 2016 season rocketing through Arizona's system, climbing all the way from Class A Kane County to Class A Advanced Visalia to Double-A Mobile to Triple-A Reno, posting a cumulative 2.64 ERA along the way.
Others meriting consideration for the Week 4 Players of the Week awards were Scottsdale third baseman Ryder Jones (Giants), Mesa third baseman Brian Anderson (Marlins), Glendale right-handed pitcher Francis Martes and Mesa right-hander Dylan Covey who tossed the first five innings of the third no-hitter in Fall League history.
