D-backs make 3 roster moves

The Arizona Diamondbacks selected RHP Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A Reno, placed RHP J.J. Hoover on the 10-day disabled list (right shoulder inflammation) and designated C Oscar Hernández for assignment.

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks selected RHP Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A Reno, placed RHP J.J. Hoover on the 10-day disabled list (right shoulder inflammation) and designated C Oscar Hernández for assignment.
 
De La Rosa, 28, posted a 1.96 ERA (4 ER in 18.1 IP) with 4 walks and 25 strikeouts in 17 appearances with Single-A Adv. Visalia and Reno this season. He did not allow a run over his last 8 appearances with the Aces (9.0 IP) and struck out 15.
 
De La Rosa, who appeared in 13 games (10 starts) for the D-backs in 2016 due to right elbow inflammation, has gone 18-14 with a 4.59 ERA (122 ER in 239.1 IP) in 45 games (42 starts) in 2 seasons with Arizona (2015-16). He resigned as a Minor League free agent on Jan. 3.
 
Hoover, 29, is 1-0 with a 4.18 ERA (11 ER in 23.2 IP), 8 holds and 36 strikeouts in 31 appearances with the D-backs in 2017. He threw 0.1 innings yesterday @ Rockies, and did not allow a run in 6 of his last 7 outings.
 
Hernández, 23, is hitting .197 (28-for-142) with 5 home runs and 13 RBI in 41 games with Double-A Jackson. He played in 22 games over 2 seasons with the D-backs (2015-16), batting .167 (7-for-42) with 1 home run and 2 RBI.
 
The D-backs' 40-man roster remains at 40.
