D-backs prospects throw combined no-hitter

A handful of D-backs farmhands combined to throw a no-hitter on Thursday night in Double-A Jackson's 6-0 win over Jacksonville. It marked the 13th no-hitter of the Minor League season, three of which have come in the Southern League.

Generals starter Justin Donatella worked the first three innings, allowing two walks and striking out four before departing after 62 pitches (39 strikes) and turning the ball over to Daniel Gibson, who promptly delivered two perfect innings with three strikeouts to keep the no-hit bid intact. It was Gibson's sixth scoreless performance this season in as many outings and it netted him his first win.

Left-hander Kirby Bellow pitched around a two-out walk and stolen base in the sixth inning en route to his sixth hold in 27 appearances, and Kevin Ginkel, a 24-year-old right-hander, followed him by bridging the gap to the ninth inning by striking out a pair over two perfect frames.
sealed the combined no-hitter by inducing back-to-back strikeouts against (Marlins' No. 1, No. 62 overall) and (Marlins' No. 7) to end the game.
D-backs No. 13 prospect supported his pitchers' efforts by hitting an RBI double and a solo home run as part of a 2-for-4 performance. It was the third home run of the season for the 22-year-old infielder, who's hitting .294 with an .850 OPS through 21 games.
Third baseman Kevin Medrano also hit a solo shot for Jackson, and shortstop Jose Vinicio tallied a run and an RBI in a 2-for-4 performance.
