Miller's next start may be with D-backs

Sent to Triple-A on July 14, righty is 5-1 at Reno; Pollock could be activated Friday

PHOENIX -- D-backs manager Chip Hale is not dismissing the notion that 's next start could be back in the Majors.
"We're still discussing what we're going to do," Hale said. "He has pitched well, he has done the things that we've asked. He just has to keep pitching, whether it's [at Triple-A Reno] or here."
Miller has fared much better in Reno than he did with Arizona. Since being demoted July 14, the right-hander is 5-1 with a 3.52 ERA in seven starts.
As of now, Miller is scheduled to make his next Triple-A start Thursday. is scheduled to go for the D-backs in the series finale against the Braves. Arizona has not announced probable starters for the series against the Reds which begins Friday.

Whether or not it's this week, Hale has said Miller will be back in the Majors this season. He went 2-9 with a 7.14 ERA in 14 starts for the D-backs, who acquired him from the Braves during the offseason.
"When he was here, his attitude was as good as to be expected," Hale said. "Talking with [Reno manager] Phil [Nevin] today, he's been really good with that group. He's had a lot of success down there, too, so it's going to be fun to get him back and get him in the rotation, whether it's a five-, six-, seven-man rotation, we'll see. We have so many starters, we're going to have to figure out the innings."
Worth noting
• Outfielder (fractured elbow) received a scheduled day off Monday in his rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno. Hale said Pollock would play Tuesday and Wednesday, take another day off Thursday and, should all go well, be back in the Majors on Friday.
"When we activate him, he'll be in the lineup for sure," Hale said. "So if it's Friday, he'll be in there Friday."
• Starter (right elbow inflammation) threw a side session Monday. He will throw another one this week before resuming his rehab assignment in the Arizona Rookie League.
