New faces
The D-backs added a couple of players as the 2017 seasoned crept closer. In February, right-hander Frank Duncan came from the Pirates in the Phil Gosselin trade. Then, as Spring Training was drawing to a close, they claimed first baseman Christian Walker from the Reds. The D-backs were able to get Walker through waivers and sent him to Reno, where he'll be teammates with Duncan.
On the shelf
Outfielder Socrates Brito broke through to the big leagues in 2015 and made the Opening Day roster in 2016, but he's had some injury troubles since. The most recent one is a dislocated finger suffered while diving into home during Spring Training. It required surgery and he was placed on the 60-day disabled list as a result.
