PHOENIX -- The D-backs finished out their four-game series with the Padres on Thursday night with a 6-2 win, which gave them sole possession of first place in the National League West with the second-place Rockies coming to town Friday for a three-game set.
Here's a few things we learned about the D-backs in this series:
This team is resilient: Manager Torey Lovullo admitted he was concerned with how his team would play Thursday after blowing a ninth-nning lead in a loss the night before, and then learning the news Thursday afternoon that Shelby Miller had a strained flexor tendon and partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
"I was hoping that these guys were going to rally around one another and rely on one another in a time of mini-crisis," Lovullo said. "This group depends on one another, and that's what a good family does."
The D-backs showed no hangover as Taijuan Walker matched his career high with 11 strikeouts over eight innings of two-run ball.

"I think everyone just has confidence, and everyone knows that we can go out there and beat any team and that we can go out there and score runs and pitch well," Walker said. "It was a tough one last night, but I think the fact that we rebounded and put up six runs today was really huge, and just shows how much confidence we have in each other."
Chris Owings is going to have a big year: Owings had 10 RBIs over the four games, and has shown no signs of slowing after a strong start to the year. It also appears that after two years of recovering from left-shoulder surgery and changing his mechanics at the plate as a result, he's finally 100 percent.
"I feel like I'm starting to get a little bit of strength back in that shoulder," Owings said. "I think that's the biggest thing. I'm starting to drive the ball a little bit more in [batting practice]. I felt like in Spring Training, I did a good job of that."

The rotation is pretty solid: Even with the loss of Miller, the D-backs' starting rotation looks good. Ace Zack Greinke's velocity is up slightly from where it was in Spring Training, and he's had better command.
Patrick Corbin's slider seems to have regained the bite it had before his Tommy John surgery, as he showed by striking out nine Padres over seven innings Tuesday night. Then, Walker was in command Thursday.
The offense is dominant at home: After seeing their production fall off in some pitcher-friendly road ballparks, the D-backs resumed mashing at Chase Field, scoring 27 runs in the four-game set with San Diego.
"They're fearless with their approach to the game," Lovullo said. "They go out every day to try and make something happen that's going to be a little bit more special."
