Welcome to DraftKings fantasy baseball, the Official Daily Fantasy Game of Major League Baseball.
The players listed below are in position to provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants on Wednesday.
José Altuve: With a lifetime .354/.404/.510 slash line against left-handers, the second baseman has proven to be one of the best in baseball during those matchups. Altuve could improve on his impressive 2016 statistics (.354 average, 22 homers and 26 steals across 585 plate appearances) when he tangles with A's southpaw Ross Detwiler (5.74 ERA, 1.58 WHIP in 2016).
:: Fred Zinkie's Daily Picks ::
George Springer: Hitting leadoff, the outfielder may maximize his opportunities to reach base and score runs when he brings his lifetime .397 wOBA against left-handers (.338 vs. righties) into a matchup with the left-handed Detwiler (career 4.27 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) and an A's squad that ranks 21st in baseball with a .684 defensive efficiency ratio.
Corey Seager: Hitting .320 with 23 homers and 87 runs across 559 plate appearances, the shortstop is coming down the stretch of a memorable rookie season. Seager could continue to excel when he brings his impressive lifetime .337/.399/.570 slash line against right-handers into a matchup at homer-happy Coors Field against righty Jeff Hoffman, who will be making his third career start.
Adrián González: Hitting .296 with 75 RBIs across 467 at-bats, the first baseman continues to be one of the most dependable batters in baseball. Gonzalez could thrive when he brings his lifetime 140 wRC+ against right-handers (109 vs. lefties) into a matchup at Colorado's hitter-friendly park with the rookie righty Hoffman (8.10 ERA, 1.80 WHIP) and a Rockies relief corps that ranks 28th in baseball with a 4.93 ERA.
Justin Turner: From the heart of the lineup, the third baseman could go deep or drive in multiple runs when he brings his lifetime .827 OPS against right-handers (.699 vs. lefties) into a matchup at Colorado's offense-inducing venue with the inexperienced righty Hoffman (7.58 FIP) and a Rockies squad that ranks 28th in baseball with a .673 defensive efficiency ratio.
Mike Napoli: With 29 homers and 88 RBIs across 458 at-bats, the first baseman has been one of the most powerful players in baseball this season. Napoli could put a ball into the outfield seats when he brings his lifetime 145 wRC+ against left-handers (116 vs. righties) into a matchup against rookie southpaw Pat Dean (6.24 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) and a Twins bullpen that ranks 25th in baseball with a 4.43 ERA.
Brandon Guyer: The outfielder could reach base often or score multiple runs when he brings his lifetime .854 OPS against left-handers (.641 vs. righties) into a matchup with the left-handed Dean (4.93 FIP) and a Twins squad that ranks 30th in baseball with a .665 defensive efficiency ratio.
Carlos González: In his career, the outfielder has fared best when facing right-handers (.929 OPS) and batting at his hitter-friendly home park (1.021 OPS). CarGo could have an outstanding game when he hits at Coors Field against Dodgers rookie righty Ross Stripling (4.13 ERA, 1.27 WHIP).
Charlie Blackmon: Like his teammate Gonzalez, Blackmon has traditionally excelled against right-handers (lifetime .820 OPS) and at his hitter-friendly home park (lifetime .891 OPS). Hitting leadoff, the outfielder may maximize his chances to reach base and score multiple runs against the right-handed Stripling.
David Dahl: With an overall .326/.374/.543 slash line, the rookie outfielder is in the midst of an impressive debut. From a premium lineup spot, Dahl could excel in a matchup at his offense-inducing home park against the rookie righty Stripling.
Matt Carpenter: Eligible at second base and third base in DraftKings contests, Carpenter could enter lineups in multiple ways when he brings his lifetime .875 OPS against right-handers (.778 vs. lefties) into a matchup at hitter-friendly Miller Park against righty Matt Garza (5.38 ERA, 1.58 WHIP since the outset of 2015).
Brandon Moss: With a lifetime .235 ISO against right-handers in comparison to a .157 mark vs. lefties, the first baseman will be in prime position to hit his 26th homer of the season against the right-handed Garza (4.89 ERA, 1.60 WHIP in 2016) and a Brewers bullpen that lacks strong options after trading Jeremy Jeffress and Will Smith in late July.
Jayson Werth: The outfielder has long fared best vs. left-handers, against whom he has a lifetime 149 wRC+ (113 vs. righties). Werth could post an impactful DraftKings total when he bats at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park against southpaw Adam Morgan (career 5.47 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) and a Phillies bullpen that ranks 26th in baseball with a 4.43 ERA.
Devon Travis: The second baseman could reach base often or drive in multiple runs when he brings his lifetime .848 OPS against right-handers (.753 vs. lefties) into a matchup at hitter-friendly Camden Yards against righty Yovani Gallardo (5.69 ERA, 1.65 WHIP in 2016).
Joey Votto: With an overall .426/.522/.695 slash line since the All-Star break, the first baseman will be in fine form when he brings his lifetime .317/.436/.550 slash line against right-handers into a matchup with righty Ricky Nolasco (5.24 ERA, 1.36 WHIP in 2016). Votto could also excel late in the game against an Angels bullpen that will work without injured anchors Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian.
Justin Verlander: With a 2.00 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP across his past 11 starts, the right-hander will be on a hot streak heading into a home matchup against a White Sox lineup that ranks 25th in the Majors with a .706 OPS against righties.
Gio Gonzalez: With a 3.20 ERA across his past nine starts, the left-hander has bounced back from a slow start. Gonzalez could continue to excel when he faces a Phillies lineup that ranks 28th in baseball with a .655 OPS against southpaws.
All statistics are accurate through the completion of Monday's games.
