O's bats, Marlins' Fernandez set to excel

Astros' Altuve, Mets' Thor could also rank among top Tuesday picks

June 20th, 2016

Welcome to DraftKings fantasy baseball, the Official Daily Fantasy Game of Major League Baseball.
The players listed below could provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants on Tuesday.
Chris Davis: The left-handed-hitting first baseman could display his power when he brings his lifetime .874 OPS against right-handers (.744 vs. lefties) into a home matchup against rookie righty Luis Perdomo (8.79 ERA, 2.14 WHIP) and a Padres bullpen that ranks 25th in baseball with a 4.48 ERA. Also working in Davis' favor: Camden Yards has proven to be especially power-inducing for lefty batters.
:: Fred Zinkie's Daily Picks ::
Pedro Alvarez: The slugger has long fared best vs. right-handers, against whom he owns a lifetime .794 OPS (.591 vs. lefties). As a left-handed hitter set to bat at homer-happy Camden Yards against the inexperienced righty Perdomo (42 career innings), Alvarez is a prime candidate to put a ball into the outfield seats.

Jonathan Schoop: The second baseman will be poised to improve his lifetime .756 slash line against right-handers (.578 vs. lefties) when he faces the right-handed Perdomo and an unreliable Padres bullpen. Schoop may be part of a productive lineup, as the Orioles ranks third in the Majors with an .808 OPS against righties.
Brian McCann: One of the most powerful players at his premium position, the left-handed-hitting catcher could rip a round-tripper when he bats at home against righty Chad Bettis (career 5.35 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) and a Rockies relief corps that ranks 26th in the Majors with a 4.60 ERA. McCann could benefit from taking the field at his home, Yankee Stadium, which is especially homer-happy for lefty batters.
Didi Gregorius: As a big leaguer, the shortstop has posted a .717 OPS against right-handers that exceeds his .611 mark vs. lefties. Gregorius -- who is hitting .333 in June -- could provide cost-effective production at a premium position when he hits at home against the right-handed Bettis (5.63 ERA, 1.46 WHIP in 2016) and an unreliable Rockies bullpen.
Carlos Gonzalez: With a lifetime .934 OPS against right-handers that exceeds his .745 mark vs. lefties, the left-handed-hitting outfielder will be poised to go deep or drive in multiple runs when he faces righty Ivan Nova (career 4.37 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) at homer-happy Yankee Stadium.

Christian Yelich: Hitting .317 with a .402 on-base percentage, the outfielder has been a major contributor to many 2016 DraftKings squads. From the No. 3 spot in the lineup, Yelich could reach base often or drive in multiple runs when he brings his lifetime .823 OPS against right-handers (.704 vs. lefties) into a matchup with Bud Norris (career 4.46 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) and a Braves bullpen that ranks 24th in the Majors with a 4.46 ERA.
Justin Bour: Bour owns notable lifetime splits, with an .837 OPS against right-handers in comparison to a .544 mark vs. lefties. The first baseman could excel against the right-handed Norris, who in his career has allowed left-handed hitters such as Bour to post an .814 OPS (.705 OPS allowed to righty batters).
Jose Altuve: Hitting .342 with 10 homers, 48 runs and 18 steals across 320 plate appearances, the second baseman has been arguably the most productive player at his premium position this season. Altuve could post a game-changing DraftKings total when he brings his stellar lifetime .355/.405/.504 slash line against left-handers into a matchup with Angels southpaw Hector Santiago (5.30 ERA, 1.34 WHIP in 2016).
George Springer: From his premium lineup spot, the outfielder could reach base often and score multiple runs when he takes his lifetime .881 OPS against left-handers (.790 vs. righties) into a matchup with the left-handed Santiago (career 4.61 FIP, 1.33 WHIP).
Josh Donaldson: Since joining the Blue Jays at the outset of 2015, the third baseman has posted a .296/.400/.592 slash line against left-handers and a .324/.399/.628 line at his hitter-friendly home park. Donaldson may be worth a major investment in DraftKings contests when he hits at home against D-backs southpaw Patrick Corbin (4.76 ERA, 1.35 WHIP in 2016).

Edwin Encarnacion: Hitting .317 with eight homers and 21 RBIs across 60 at-bats in June, the first baseman will bring a red-hot bat into a matchup at his hitter-friendly home park against the southpaw Corbin (4.60 FIP in 2016). In his career, Corbin has allowed right-handed hitters such as Encarnacion to post a .756 OPS (.625 OPS allowed to lefty batters).
Troy Tulowitzki: Hitting .206 this season, the shortstop could have a reduced cost in DraftKings contests when he brings his impressive lifetime .941 OPS against left-handers (.845 vs. righties) into a matchup with the left-handed Corbin and a D-backs bullpen that ranks 19th in the Majors with a 4.06 ERA.
Tanner Roark: With a lifetime 3.12 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP, the right-hander has become a trusted second starter for DraftKings participants. On Tuesday, Roark could compile six-plus effective innings when he works at pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium against a Los Angeles lineup that ranks 24th in the Majors with a .699 OPS against righties.
Tyler Duffey: With a 5.56 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP this season, the right-hander could have a reduced cost in DraftKings contests when he works at home against a Phillies lineup that ranks 29th in the Majors with a .650 OPS against righties.

Jose Fernandez: With a 2.43 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and an 11.1 K/9 rate in his career, Fernandez has skills that can be matched by few big league hurlers. The right-hander could post a notable DraftKings total when he works at home against a Braves lineup that ranks 28th in baseball in OPS vs. righties (.659) and last in the Majors in total home runs (32).
