Sprained foot lands Mengden on DL

OAKLAND -- The A's recalled right-handed pitcher from Triple-A Nashville and placed right-handed pitcher on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Sunday, with a sprained right foot, the club announced Wednesday.
Bassitt joins the A's for the fifth time this year. He did not pitch during his first two stints from April 20-25 and May 26, made one start during his one-day third stint on June 9 and two starts during his most recent stint, which lasted from June 14-22. He is 0-3 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts with Oakland and 2-3 with a 6.10 ERA in 10 games, seven starts, with Nashville, but has not pitched for the Sounds since June 2.
Mengden is 6-6 with a 4.47 ERA and .247 opponents batting average in 16 starts. He has walked just 19 batters in 90.2 innings and his average of 1.89 walks per nine innings is sixth lowest in the American League. Mengden was 0-2 with an 11.57 ERA in four starts in June after going 4-1 with a 1.51 ERA in six starts in May. He is one of seven starting pitchers to spend time on the Oakland disabled list.
