Royals general manager Dayton Moore will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame as part of its 20-person class at a Jan. 31 enshrinement ceremony at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, Mo.

The honor will take place as Moore prepares for his 15th season as Royals GM, with a World Series title and two American League pennants on his résumé. Rosters assembled by Moore have combined to include a Cy Young Award winner, 29 All-Star Game selections, 19 Gold Glove Award winners, two Platinum Glove Award winners and six Silver Slugger Award winners. Moore assembled the core of the 2015 championship club in a variety of ways, from international signings (Salvador Perez) to successful first-round Draft picks (Mike Moustakas, Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon) to key trades (Lorenzo Cain).

Moore has also given back to the community, establishing the “C” You in the Major Leagues Foundation in 2013 to support youth baseball, education, families in crisis and faith-based programs and organizations. He also helped open the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy in '17 for youth baseball and softball development.

Other members of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame class include former St. Louis Cardinals president Mark Lamping, Missouri State baseball pitching coach Paul Evans, the late Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas, angler Edwin Evers, Webb City football coach John Roderique, Springfield philanthropist Bobby Allison, Missouri State football standout Dennis Heim, basketball coach Jim Middleton, Kickapoo and Drury basketball standout Alex Hall, swimming coach Jim Whytlaw, golf long driver Dan Boever, Southeast Missouri State basketball standout Pat Colon, Springfield sports broadcaster Tom Mast, University of Missouri soccer coach Bryan Blitz, the Popular Bluff High School boys golf program, Warrensburg High School boys and girls cross country programs with coach Ron Clawson, University of Missouri football chain crew and the Missouri State Sugar Bears dance team.
