Derek Jeter is set for a return to Yankee Stadium -- in a new role this time.

The Hall of Fame shortstop will make his first Old-Timers’ Day appearance on Sept. 9, when the Yankees hold the 75th edition of the annual event. While there will be no Old-Timers’ Day game (as was the case in 2022), Jeter joins a star-studded cast of characters.

Jeter is just one of nine Monument Park inductees -- seven of whom have seen their numbers retired by the Yankees -- who will be participating. Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte will all take part, as will Joe Torre, Ron Guidry, Tino Martinez, Paul O’Neill and Willie Randolph.

Manager Aaron Boone, postseason hero Bucky Dent, 2009 World Series MVP Hideki Matsui and current YES Network broadcasters David Cone and Jeff Nelson will also participate. The widows of Thurman Munson, Whitey Ford, Bobby Murcer and Billy Martin will also be in attendance.

The event will feature traditional Old-Timers’ Day introductions and a new question-and-answer roundtable format in which the special guests can share their Yankees memories.

Jeter, who retired after the 2014 season, is set to make his first Old-Timers’ Day appearance at age 49. A five-time Gold Glove Award winner and five-time Silver Slugger, Jeter won five World Series with the Yankees, including 2000 World Series MVP honors. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020.
