May 11th, 2020

Two of the best shortstops in baseball appear on the latest episode of MLB's Newlybros game show. and have been friends since childhood, when they played on the same Little League team in Curaçao.

"I remember they put Gregorius in right field," Simmons said. "... And then they noticed he was too good to be in the outfield, so they moved him."

"We were the duo, the combination," Gregorius said, "second base and shortstop."

So how well do these two lifelong friends know each other?

Find out in this episode, which covers topics ranging from walk-up songs to Players' Weekend cleat designs to how many hits one of them has against fellow Curaçao native Kenley Jansen, also a Little League teammate.

You're in for a lot of laughter, whether it's about Gregorius' howling dog or the friendly middle-infield competition the pair had while growing up.

"He benched me, actually," Simmons said of Gregorius.

They may not be in the same league anymore, with the former Yankee Gregorius signing with the Phillies in the offseason and Simmons remaining a staple in the Angels' lineup, but these two see plenty of each other and it shows just how much they enjoy spending time together.
