Vote NOW to help Dodgers' quintet start ASG

June 28th, 2021

Phase 2 of voting for ASG starters is underway, and Max Muncy, Gavin Lux, Justin Turner, Mookie Betts and Chris Taylor rank among the leaders after Phase 1, but they need help getting to Denver.

You can vote NOW up until Thursday at 11 a.m. PT. The All-Star starters will be announced on Thursday at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Pitchers and reserves will be revealed on July 4 at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN. The All-Star Game is July 13 on FOX.

No other NL team had more than the Dodgers’ five finalists, with only L.A.’s Sunday Night Baseball opponent, the Cubs, matching that mark.

As a member of the Red Sox, Betts made four American League All-Star squads. He almost certainly would have been an NL All-Star last year, but the pandemic led to the cancelation of the game (which was set to be played at Dodger Stadium; Chavez Ravine will now host the 2022 All-Star Game). Turner and Muncy have both been All-Stars once, in ‘17 and ‘19, respectively. Taylor and Lux would be first-time All-Stars.

Shortstop Corey Seager just missed making the cut, getting edged by out the Giants’ Brandon Crawford on the final day of voting. With a difference of just 22,000 votes, it was the closest margin for a final spot in Phase 1. Seager hasn’t played since May 15, when he fractured his right hand on a hit-by-pitch.

No matter how Phase 2 of voting pans out, at least one member of the Dodgers has his role guaranteed. Since Los Angeles won the 2020 World Series, the NL squad will be managed by Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts. Roberts also managed the NL All-Star team in ‘18 and ‘19.

Fans can vote at mlb.com/vote -- or on Google by searching "MLB All-Star vote" or "Vote" along with a player's name. You can vote daily on both platforms, including once per day on MLB.com.

The All-Star Game, held at Coors Field in Colorado, will be on Tuesday, July 13, on FOX.
