Dodgers Activate Edwin Díaz

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated right-handed pitcher Edwin Díaz from the injured list and designated left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes for assignment.

Díaz, 32, has been sidelined since April 20 with a right elbow injury. He made seven rehab appearances between the Arizona Complex League, Low-A Ontario and Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing two runs in 5.2 innings with 11 strikeouts. On the season, he is 1-0 with a 10.50 ERA in seven games. The 10-year veteran is 29-36 in his career with a 2.91 ERA in 527 games. The three-time All-Star has 257 saves in 300 opportunities with 849 strikeouts. He was drafted in the third round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Caguas Military Academy (PR).

Barnes, 30, pitched a scoreless inning on Sunday against the Mets, striking out two. He is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA in four appearances with the Dodgers this season. He has been in the Majors parts of two seasons with the Minnesota Twins (2021), Chicago Cubs (2026) and Dodgers (2026), recording an 0-4 mark with a 6.18 ERA in 51.0 innings. In six minor league seasons, he owns a 29-26 record with a 3.97 ERA and 398 strikeouts in 453.0 innings. He was a fourth-round draft pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Clemson.
