LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have selected the contracts of catcher Chuckie Robinson and right-handed pitcher Jonathan Hernández, added left-handed pitcher Tarik Skubal to the active roster, placed catcher Dalton Rushing on the injured list with right elbow inflammation and optioned right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher Wyatt Mills for assignment.
Robinson, 31, rejoins the team after appearing in eight games for the Dodgers with two hits in 23 at-bats. He played one game for the Dodgers last season, scoring a run on September 15 against the Phillies. He has been in the Majors parts of three season with the Cincinnati Reds (2022), Chicago White Sox (2024) and Dodgers (2026), batting .124 with two homers and six RBI. With Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, he appeared in 33 games, hitting .229 with five homers and 23 RBI. He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 2016 First Year Player Draft in the 21st round out of the University of Southern Mississippi.
Hernández, 30, rejoins the big club after being designated for assignment on June 30 and outrighted to Triple-A on July 2. He made 12 appearances with the Dodgers, allowing 16 runs in 17.2 innings with 15 strikeouts. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, he was 0-0 with a 6.14 ERA in seven games. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of six seasons with the Texas Rangers (2019-24), Seattle Mariners (2024) and Dodgers (2026), going 13-8 with a 4.69 ERA and 165 strikeouts in 170.2 innings. He was signed on January 30, 2013 by the Texas Rangers as a minor league free agent.
Skubal, 29, was acquired yesterday from the Tigers in exchange for outfielder Zyhir Hope and pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith. He is 7-5 with a 2.79 ERA in 16 starts this season. He missed part of the 2026 season to remove loose bodies from his throwing elbow, and he is 4-3 with a 2.87 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 53.1 innings since returning from the injured list. The two-time Cy Young Award winner has been in the Major Leagues seven seasons, posting a 61-42 record with a 3.04 ERA in 153 games (150 starts). He has 1,005 strikeouts in 863.1 innings while owning a 1.012 WHIP. He was drafted by the Tigers in the ninth round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Seattle.
Rushing, 25, was scratched from yesterday’s game prior to the first pitch with arm irritation. He has appeared in a career-high 74 games this season, hitting .253 with 12 homers and 36 RBI. He is in his second season with the Dodgers, playing in 127 games, and batting .234 with 16 homers and 60 RBI. The backstop has been in the organization since being drafted in the second round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville. In 268 minor league games, he batted .278 with 54 homers and 187 RBI.
Sheehan, 26, made the start last night, allowing five runs in 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. He suffered his third straight loss and moved to 4-8 on the season with a 5.29 ERA. He has made a career-high 20 starts, racking up 108 strikeouts in 95.1 innings with a 1.29 WHIP. He is in third season with the Dodgers, posting a 4.40 ERA with a 14-12 record in 48 games (43 starts). He was drafted by the Dodgers in the fifth round of the 2021 First Year Player Draft out of Boston College.
Mills, 31, pitched last night, allowing two runs (one earned) in two innings. He was 0-0 with a 5.68 ERA in six games with the Dodgers. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of three seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2021-22), Kansas City Royals (2022) and Dodgers (2026), participating in 44 games, posting an 0-1 mark with a 6.14 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 48.1 innings. He was a third-round pick by the Mariners in the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Gonzaga.
