LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers' immediate plan for Alex Guerrero is to have him stay in Arizona and then be put on the disabled list.
"The MRI showed minimal damage, but we now understand the discomfort and pain he was having the pain in his knee," manager Dave Roberts said.
Roberts didn't know the exact details of what the MRI showed.
"Expect [Guerrero] to join us for Opening Day, as well as the other guys on the disabled list, but start him on the disabled list and then nurse him back to health," Roberts said.
Worth noting
• Angels manager Mike Scioscia, the Major League's longest-tenured manager, believes that Roberts is going to do well in his new job and that he doesn't expect him to have a long period of adjustment.
"He has been around baseball for a long time and I think it's going to dovetail into a smooth transition for Dave," Scioscia said, "He's really smart, he's bright, he's got a great understanding of what he wants to put into a team."
• The Dodgers haven't finalized their plans for outfielder Trayce Thompson.
"He's a dynamic player and Trayce has really piqued our interest," Roberts said.
As for whether that interest translates to a spot on the Opening Day roster, Roberts wasn't prepared to say.
"I think he's ready to play in the big leagues so whether we decide to break him with us or not, he's really made our decision very difficult," he said.
