CINCINNATI -- In five road starts entering Saturday, Dodgers lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu was winless this season. Ryu found the perfect team to remedy that problem in the Reds. A 10-2 Dodgers victory at Great American Ball Park gave Cincinnati its season-high eighth straight loss. The Reds are also a big league-worst 3-14 vs. left-handed starters in 2017.
Bolstering Ryu was a five-run top of the third inning and an afternoon that included four Dodgers home runs. It was a 1-1 game in the third inning when Chris Taylor hit a two-run double to the left-field wall against Reds starter Asher Wojciechowski before homers followed from Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson.

"They've got some big boys that will hit that elevated fastball out of the ballpark. Those were pitches they should hit," Reds manager Bryan Price said.

Wojciechowski was done after 2 1/3 innings with six runs (five earned), five hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Reliever Austin Brice gave up two runs over 3 1/3 innings of long relief, including Yasiel Puig's leadoff homer to center field in the top of the sixth. Puig added another leadoff homer to the left-field upper deck against Jake Buchanan in the eighth inning.
"I'm just trying to find the right pitch after working in the cage with my hitting coaches and [broadcaster] Manny Mota," said Puig, who already has more home runs (12) this year than he hit in 2015 or '16. "It's been coming little by little."

Ryu finished with two earned runs and eight hits over five innings while walking two and striking out seven. A bases-loaded walk with no outs to Eugenio Suarez made it a 6-2 game in the third but the Reds couldn't make it close again.
"I gave up a lot of hits early, but at the same time I tried to limit the damage," Ryu said.
The Dodgers, who are 5-0 vs. the Reds in the season series with one game left, have won eight of their last nine games since June 7.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Back-to-back jacks: Two runs had already scored in the third inning when Bellinger and Pederson effectively blew open the game. Bellinger hit his 19th homer of the season, a two-run shot to right field on a Wojciechowski first pitch. Pederson followed by tattooing a 1-2 pitch into the right-field seats for his second homer in two days. Missed chances for Reds: The day started promising for the Reds vs. Ryu when Billy Hamilton and Zack Cozart -- who entered the day 5-for-their-last-57 combined -- began the bottom of the first inning with hits. Hamilton hit a single and on Cozart's double, he scored on a throwing error to the infield by Taylor. But the Reds went down in order from there and finished 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position while having scoring chances in every inning of the game except the ninth. Following the Suarez bases-loaded walk in the third, Scott Schebler lined out and Jose Peraza bounced into a 1-2-3 double play.
"That was definitely the critical moment of today's game," said Ryu. "Without that play I probably wouldn't have gotten to the fifth inning."
"It's unusual for us. Since the last game in L.A., we've scored [10] runs in [five] games? That tide will turn there offensively, for sure, and we're too good of an offensive ballclub to think that this is going to last very long," Price said.

Despite being limited to two runs, the Reds hit three triples in the game -- one each from Hamilton, Devin Mesoraco and Peraza. The last time the club had three triples in one game was when Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Freel did on July 30, 2005, at San Diego.

PRICE EJECTED
The Reds' lineup and dugout were not fond of home plate umpire Stu Scheurwater's strike zone and it boiled over in the bottom of the second inning. When Hamilton was called out on strike three to end the inning, he argued and spiked his helmet and bat. Although he was not ejected, Price was tossed from the game -- his first ejection of the season and 10th of his career -- for arguing balls and strikes. Scheurwater is a Minor League callup filling in on the big league umpiring crew for the series.
"I think that it's a young guy back behind the plate umpiring. He's trying to do a great job," Price said. "I felt like there was hesitation from the time the ball crossed the plate to when he made his call. I didn't care for that. You want the calls to be made immediately so there's not time to ponder. That was my biggest concern."

UNDER REVIEW
The Reds nearly had a fourth triple when Joey Votto sent the third of his three hits on the day to the right-field wall in the seventh. Votto was already headed to third base with an apparent triple when Puig raised his arms as the ball became trapped under some padding. The Dodgers challenged the ruling of the triple, citing the stadium boundary call rule -- which states the ball is deemed dead once it becomes stuck, and the batter is credited with a ground-rule double -- and the call was overturned.

In the Reds' ninth, Cozart was ruled out after a ground ball to the hole when shortstop Corey Seager made a nice stop and one-hop throw to first base in a close play. Cincinnati challenged the call on the field and upon review, replay officials determined that the call stands.

WHAT'S NEXT
Dodgers:Kenta Maeda gets his first spot start since being sent to the bullpen in this 10:10 a.m. PT trip finale Sunday. Manager Dave Roberts said he will be looking for Maeda to be aggressively attacking hitters. That's what he did to the Reds in his last appearance, a four-inning save.
Reds: In the 1:10 p.m. ET finale, the Reds will send Bronson Arroyo back to the mound and hope he can go deep following Wojciechowski's poor outing. Arroyo is winless in his last seven starts and gave up nine earned runs and 13 hits over 4 2/3 innings in his last start Monday vs. the Padres.
