Ryu feeling good despite thigh muscle issue

March 2nd, 2017

PHOENIX -- threw a bullpen session Wednesday instead of live batting practice because of slight discomfort in the adductor muscle in the left thigh.
Ryu threw a full 35-pitch session and afterward said he felt no discomfort from the leg, or the surgically repaired shoulder and elbow that limited him to one start in the past two years.
"It went well; I feel better," said Ryu. "I didn't feel anything in the adductor or any of the previous injuries. As far as I'm concerned, I'm ready to move on."
Ryu said he didn't have pain, "just felt a little uncomfortable" in the wake of a Monday bullpen session.
Before Ryu threw, manager Dave Roberts said if all goes well, Ryu will face hitters Saturday in a simulated game. Then it will be determined if he's ready for game action, either Cactus League or Minor League.
"He had a little left side adductor he was feeling a little and we wanted to back him off," said Roberts. "We just think that he came to camp great, exerted a lot of energy through his workouts, and we wanted to err on the side of caution."
