CHICAGO -- Although Julio Urias' 2017 Major League debut with the Dodgers remains on hold, the 20-year-old left-hander made his season debut Monday with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He allowed two runs on two hits in 3 2/3 innings against the Iowa Cubs. He walked four and struck out five and threw 79 pitches.
"I'll probably call him tomorrow and check on him," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before Monday night's game against the Cubs. "He'll make a start in five days and get to five [innings] and 75 [pitches], or something like that. We'll see."
The Dodgers plan to keep Urias in the Minors and pitch him lightly for about a month to keep his innings down.
"He's close," Roberts said. "I think to pick our spots and use him accordingly, and when we do need him, he'll be ready. But we're not ready to say when that day will be. Some time at the end of the month makes sense."
Urias went 5-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 18 games (15 starts) for the Dodgers last season.
Hill to throw bullpen on Thursday
Left-hander Rich Hill -- on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his pitching hand -- is back in Los Angeles and appears on track to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.
"His finger feels good and he's been playing catch, and he'll make that bullpen on Thursday," Roberts said. "At that point in time, we'll know if he's going to make that start on Sunday."
The Dodgers host the D-backs on Sunday.
