Dodgers edged in Freeway Series finale

July 25th, 2019

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have had their way with the National League this year, but they can’t beat the Angels.

With Kole Calhoun continuing his rampage, the Angels edged the Dodgers on Wednesday night, 3-2, to complete their Freeway Series season sweep, winning two games at Dodger Stadium after taking both June games in Anaheim.

It’s only the second time a club has swept the Interleague showdown, the Dodgers having gone 4-0 in the inaugural year of 1997.

Along with losing the game, the Dodgers lost three players during it -- starting pitcher Ross Stripling had to leave with a stiff neck, second baseman Enrique Hernandez was removed with a sore left hand and Cody Bellinger was ejected for arguing with home-plate umpire Dan Iassogna.

Calhoun -- who homered, doubled twice and threw out Bellinger at the plate to end Tuesday night’s game -- added a home run and two doubles on Wednesday.
