GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Dodgers pitcher Josh Ravin broke his left forearm Monday in a car accident and was to undergo surgery Tuesday, a club official reported just prior to the team beginning its regular practice session at Camelback Ranch.
The Dodgers had little information to share about the accident except to say that Ravin was the only one in the vehicle at the time.
Ravin, a 28-year-old right-hander, was in camp with a remote chance of making the team. He had nine relief appearances with the Dodgers in June and July 2015 and spent much of the season with their Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate.
With Los Angeles, Ravin went 2-1 with a 6.75 ERA, 13 hits, three home runs, seven earned runs, four walks and 12 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings.
With Oklahoma City, Ravin was 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA and three saves in 22 appearances. He underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia on Sept. 9 and didn't return to the Dodgers for the remainder of the season.
Ravin was a fifth-round pick by the Reds in the 2006 Draft, but he didn't make his Major League debut until June 2 during the second game of a doubleheader between the Dodgers and the Rockies in Colorado.
The Dodgers signed Ravin as a Minor League free agent in 2013.
