PHOENIX -- Already trailing by three runs, the Dodgers escaped a larger deficit when the D-backs ran into a double play to end the bottom of the sixth inning of Los Angeles' 3-0 loss on Wednesday..

With one out, and A.J. Pollock at third base after a double and steal, Chris Owings grounded to second baseman , who threw to the plate. Pollock hesitated, stopped midway, and was thrown out trying to get back to third.

Meanwhile, Owings rounded first and was caught in a rundown when third baseman fired to first baseman , who threw to shortstop for the tag on Owings at second base.
