LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled catcher Eliezer Alfonzo and placed catcher Dalton Rushing on the injured list with right elbow discomfort, retroactive to September 5.
Alfonzo, 26, returns for his second stint with the club. He has played in 12 games for the Dodgers, batting .185 with two doubles and four RBI. He was batting .302 with two homers and 25 RBI with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. He has appeared in 598 minor league games, batting .283 with 33 homers and 291 RBI. He signed with the Dodgers as a minor league free agent on November 17, 2025.
Rushing, 25, returned on Tuesday, playing in four games, going 0-for-4. He has appeared in a career-high 78 games this season, hitting .249 with 12 homers and 36 RBI. He is in his second season with the Dodgers, playing in 131 games, batting .231 with 16 homers and 60 RBI. The backstop has been in the organization since being drafted in the second round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville. In 268 minor league games, he batted .278 with 54 homers and 187 RBI.
