LOS ANGELES - The Dodgers today reinstated left-handed pitcher Adam Liberatore and right-hander Bud Norris from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitchers Casey Fien and Ross Stripling to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Liberatore, who was placed on the DL Aug. 3 with left-elbow inflammation, has a 2-0 record and would rank third among NL relievers with a 1.62 ERA if he qualified. He has tossed scoreless baseball in 41 of 44 games with the Dodgers this year, while limiting opposing hitters to a .174 batting average (10th, NL), including a .138 mark (9-for-65) against lefties. Liberatore pitched in rehab outings for both Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing two earned runs in 2.0 innings while striking out two batters and walking none. His last rehab appearance was on Tuesday for Oklahoma City.
Norris, 31, was placed on the disabled list Aug. 6 with a mid-back strain and will make his first start since July 31 this evening in Cincinnati. He has combined to go 6-9 with a 4.26 ERA in 29 games (16 starts) with the Dodgers and Braves this year, including a 3-2 mark with a 4.34 ERA in seven games (six starts) since being acquired by Los Angeles in a trade June 30. The California native made one rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga (Aug. 13) and allowed only one run in 5.2 innings while striking out four.
Fien, 32, was reinstated from the disabled list on Tuesday and made two scoreless appearances in Philadelphia (1.2 IP). Fien has appeared in 23 games for the Dodgers since being claimed from the Twins on May 7, going 0-1 with a 3.80 ERA.
Stripling, 26, started last night's game in Philadelphia and picked up the no decision after giving up three runs (two earned) and six hits in 5.0 innings. The club's 2012 fifth-round draft selection is 3-4 with a 4.04 ERA in 15 games (11 starts) for the Dodgers this season.
