Dodgers to address Puig incident 'internally'

August 10th, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman on Tuesday issued a statement in response to the latest incident involving outfielder .
"We are aware of what Yasiel posted on social media last night, and while we are disappointed in his and some of our other players' judgment, this is a matter we will address internally," Friedman said in the statement.
Puig, who was demoted to Triple-A last week in part because of his off-field behavior, posted a video of himself and some of his Oklahoma City teammates dancing in the clubhouse, then partying and shouting obscenities in a party bus.
Puig's demotion capped two weeks of drama and intrigue, beginning with a reported tight hamstring, followed by more than a week of limited playing time and trade rumors. Last Monday, the club acquired right fielder from the A's to replace Puig.
Puig's behavior has been an issue for two front offices and on-field staffs. He's been a fan-favorite enigma since he was signed in 2012 after escaping from Cuba. He arrived in spectacular fashion in 2013 with a five-tool arsenal, was runner-up for the National League Rookie of the Year Award and was a key reason the Dodgers returned to the postseason that year. But he was equally dogged by behavior issues, from speeding arrests to tardiness to insubordination.
Meanwhile, despite being voted into the All-Star Game starting lineup in 2014, Puig has seen his performance regress every season. As a contributing factor, he has dealt with numerous injuries, many of them hamstring related.
